American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Course
An opportunity to arm yourself with skills that could help save a life someday, your friends, family members, or complete strangers. Also, it allows for additional certification to add to your resume.
The American Red Cross has been saving lives for over a century. As you go through the course, you will learn how to recognize emergencies and how to effectively react to the emergencies. You will be certified in CPR, First Aid,AED, BVM for the professional rescuer and first responder.
This course is divided between online content as well as in person skills reviews and assessments. There are final written exams and skills assessments that an 80% score or higher is required to pass the course.
Prerequisits are as follows:
Swim 150 yards on front using the front crawl, breast stroke, or modified breast stroke tread for two minutes with legs only, then swim an additional 150 yards. Goggles are allowed for this skill. This is a continuous swim. no stopping or resting.
Brick test: Swim 20 yards retrieve a 10 lb object from a depth of 7.6 feet or deeper resurface hold brick with both hands while swimming on the back using the whip kick, Scissors kick, or rotery kick. swim 20 yards to the pool wall and exit the pool within 1 minute and 40 seconds. The requirements WILL NOT be met if the swimmer is unble to maintian a grip on the brick with both hands once surfaced, if the swimmer uses the flutter kick, or if they are unable to keep thier head at or near the surface of the water. (goggles are not permitted)
