American Red Cross Lifeguarding Instructor Course
An opportunity to arm yourself with skills that could help save a life someday, your friends, family members or complete strangers. Also, allows for additional certification to add to your resume.
The American Red Cross has been saving lives for over a century. As you go through the course you will learn how to recognize emergancies and how to effectively react to the emergancies. You will be certified in CPR, First Aid,AED, BVM for the professional rescuer and first responder.
This course is divided between online content as well as in person Skills reviews and assessments. There are final written exams and skills assesments that an 80% score or higher is required to pass the course.
Prerequisits are as follows:
Swim 300 yards on front using the front crawl, breast stroke or modified breast stroke. Goggles are allowed for this skill. This is a continous swim. no stopping or resting.
Brick test: Swim 20 yards retrieve a 10 lb object from a depth of 7.6 feet or deeper resurface hold brick with both hands while swimming on the back using the whip kick, Scissors kick, or rotery kick. swim 20 yards to the pool wall and exit the pool with in 1 minute and 40 seconds. The requirements will not be met if the swimmer is unble to maintian a grip on the brick with both hands, if the swimmer uses the flutter kick, or if they are unable to keep thier head above the water. (goggles are not permitted)
2 minute tread with legs only, using the whip kick, roatary, or scissor kick (No flutter kick allowed)
